Burngreave Recreation Ground

The proposal for Burngreave Recreation Ground seeks to respect and enhance the existing unique character of this elevated site, north of Sheffield City Centre. Through selective vegetation clearance and creation of new paths and access steps, anti-social behaviour, safety and security issues were addressed.  These works improved passive surveillance and permeability across the site to encourage wider use, whilst improving the relationship to surrounding residential streets and community-based facilities. The project includes the creation of a play meadow, with sculptural earthworks to create play bowls, large horizontal and vertical nature stone blocks contrasting with an informal sports court.
