Handsworth Recreation Ground

A masterplan for Handsworth Recreation Ground was developed through extensive consultation with a diverse project stakeholder group. The plan takes reference from local agricultural landscapes with the creation of a 110 metre linear stone walled ‘garden’, containing play areas, community gardens, and a pine wood. A palette of hedgerows, wildflowers and native tree planting complement the stone walls, cut stone seating and play equipment, enhancing the seasonal experience. The project also includes an informal multi-use games area and a bespoke, large sculptural climbing boulder, developed with a local climbing expert.
