King Square

Re-imaging an existing playground in Clerkenwell. The proposals include joining together two smaller playground areas to create one large space, through the removal of a central pergola, access steps, ramps and low retaining walls. Sand and water play are central to the playground, including interconnected concrete pools and channels linked to a large interactive water play space. Water from the playground drains to a large SuDs damp garden with lush, seasonal planting.

Bespoke play elements provide opportunities for large group and solitary play including climbing, sliding, swinging, spinning and hiding. A large geometric landform and timber climbing frame form the backdrop to the space, contrasting with the organic water play forms.
