Soakup Lambeth

The project explores the opportunities to retrofit nature-based sustainable urban drainage improvements for two housing estates in Streatham (St Anselm’s Court and Stanthorpe Close) for Lambeth Council as part of their Borough-wide ‘Soak up Lambeth’ initiative. A detailed review and analysis of the existing estates considered locations of external down pipes to buildings, roof catchment areas, and external hard surfaces. Nature-based solutions were developed to provide general environmental improvements, opportunities for incidental play, local improvements to future climate resilience, urban cooling, improvements to air quality with the aim of supporting physical and mental well-being of residents.
